- The knee of the kicking leg should be raised in a straight line without straightening the leg.
- Allow the standing leg to pivot by distributing the weight onto the ball of the foot allowing the kicking leg to straighten and circle hitting the target with either the top part of the foot as illustrated or the ball of the foot.
- The kicking leg must stop at impact and should not be allowed to follow through beyond the centre line of the body.
- The leg should be recovered and then may be placed where appropriate for the attacker to execute the next technique whilst always maintaining complete balance.
- Unlike the front kick and side kick the direction of this kick is circular, rather than in a straight line.
Full details of the unified tae kwon do kicks are available on the Unify Taekwondo Techniques DVD.
